Throughout the days of school we have been learning about Rocks and Minerals. How they form and how the cycle works. Lets start with the Volcano, when it erupts it blows lava that hardens into igneous rock and then breaks into pieces called sediment. As it goes into the lakes and rivers and into the ground it gets pushed all together and looks a lot like crumbled paper in a ball. As it gets pushed to the ground it forms layers of rock kind of looking like a stack of papers. Well it is flowing under the ground and getting closer to the volcano again it melts and goes up the volcano again. It keeps melting and goes up the volcano and around the cycle again and again.

Did you know that to go around the whole rock cycle takes thousands of years? If we had no rocks the soil will be soft. You might see rocks in your backyard and think long ago maybe a volcano was where you live right now and the cycle going where your house is and keep in mind that it is still going on under the soil and it travels all around the world so don’t try to harm our rock cycle because it helps to decompose animal poop, garbage and more. We have a nice healthy world to live in with peace. I used my visual journal to show what I learned about the layers of the earth and the horizons of the soil.

Xara likes to learn about science, especially the environment. She also likes ice cream, dancing, and being flexible.
