We are curious learners who ask questions and look forward to school. We are creative thinkers who love sharing ideas in a variety of ways. We are problem solvers who see things in different and innovative ways. We are persistent even when things become challenging. We are compassionate and help others even while we ourselves are receiving support.
We have a different life story from many other children our age. Some of us are actively in treatment for cancer. Some of us are recovering from major surgery or have medical complexities. Some of us are struggling with mental health issues. Some of us stay at the hospital every night while others come to the hospital each day for school and treatment.
These stories do not define us at our school. We are seen as learners first here and we are capable of amazing things. We go to Dr. Gordon Townsend School at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The teams that support us know that we have amazing futures ahead of us. They know that we will need a variety of things in our toolkits as we move forward in our learning journeys. We work as a team to add to our toolkits and are incredibly proud and excited when we move on to a new or familiar learning environment.
Who are we?
We are learners!
