After meeting Michelle and hearing her amazing story of perseverance after a major life-changing event where she required 28 units of blood, we made a connection with the Canadian Blood Services (CBS). A guest speaker from CBS spoke with our students about the chemical make up of blood, blood types and the importance of blood donors. The students have been having informed and interesting discussions with their parents and families about their learning.
We will be visiting the downtown blood bank next week in order to personally thank donors and help hand out refreshments. The students also are working on random acts of kindness in their communities to show gratitude and our commitment to becoming engaged and ethical citizens.
